I think it's about how technology and new modern developments are taking away from youths understanding on literature. Though literature is still around, and will continue to be present. Even though something may not be a physical book, it could be literature, like a tablet, nook, kindle etc. That definitely shows how our generation is reliant on technology, but most of us still know and have a good grasp on literature.

I feel like technology instead of taking it away it is making it easier for young kids to get there hands on literature

I agree completely, this is very well written! I mainly agree about the generation of technology. People these days often do not appreciate the power of literature.

I think this quote means that literature is important for peoples learning and also for entertainment across the world. I also think he is saying that it has been around and will stay around for a long time, and is something that many people have experienced before and will continue to experience as time goes on.

The stigman thats brought along with public school or education in general, should not be wide spread, but replaced with a love for learning. The quote also suggests that either reading or a teacher can remove this negative thought pattern of learning.

To me, this quote makes me wonder how long story telling will be around and if and when will it stop.I love to read so John Greens view of story telling and reading hits home. Literature is important to our every day lives and is used daily from reading labels to your favorite book.Without reading we would be lost because it is understood in more then one form.

I completely understand where your coming from. Throughout reading this quote it surely sounded like he was a little nervous about storytelling (etc) going away for good. Though we hope not, we don't have great control of that with all the technologies coming out, and getting in the way of things.

I agree with this quote. I think that literature will always be a way of storytelling for a long time. In class we learn about literature and why it's been around for so long, and that helps us as students to see that literature is very alive not just in stories, but in everyday life. I like this quote and think that it applies for all students.

This quote by John Green tells that literature is vibrant, exciting, and alive not an old, boring, uninteresting thing. Literature is not meant to dread, it is made to entertain. It's not just old stories, it is a beautiful form of storytelling that shall live on and pass through generations. This quote makes me appreciate literature a lot more. To me it really helps show the true beauty of literature.

I feel that this quote is trying to tell us that students have a better chance to learn that storytelling is not boring or a waste of time but something that is very enjoyable. While some adults (and or people not in school) think just that. It is expressing that hopefully in the future the world will learn to appreciate literature and enjoy it as they grow. I think that to truly enjoy stories and such that you have to fine a genera that you find interesting. This will allow you to completely connect and understand the author.

When John Green wrote this passage he was thinking of a way to describe literature in his own way, he also believes that when people think of literature he thinks they believe its a cold, boring, and a dead thing to learn about.

In the quote, “Students have the opportunity to see that literature is not a cold, dead thing that happened once but instead a vibrant mode of storytelling that's been with us a long time - and will be with us, I hope, for a long time to come." by John Greene, there are many ways that one can connect to it. I for example, understand that it means literature l is more about the journey than about the destination. Literature is about more than just doing something to get to the end and say that you did it. Literature is about taking in the writings and being able to apply them to your life. It is going through a book, a poem, etc. and analyzing it so that you can fully understand everything in the literature and what is around you.

What I understand about the quote is that John Green is trying to say that literature is a thing where people will need to understand in the future. What i think about the quote that John Green said was amazing because literature is important in the subject English. The connection with me and literature is not that great because i barely know what literature is.Students like me think that literature don't really care about literature. This is my response to the quote.

That's what I was getting to. Your a perfect example. You don't like Literature but the quote is saying that theirs so many opportunities for your self to find in literature that interest you. You can use your positivity or things you like to connect it to literature to make it interesting for your self.

This quote can relate to how kids these days see literature. Since most kids would rather text or read messages off there devices. This is why the quote states that literature isn't something that once happened like most kid would think. The purpose of this quote is to persuade or explain to kids that literature is still very much alive and can even be fun.

What this quote explains to me is that in today's world, most students just see literature as another class to complete so the day can be over and then finally go home. students don't pay attention to the rich history behind these works of art, simply because they don't have the imagination to do so, this is especially the true stories that just seem boring because they want to happen in front of them, to be animated,or to be told with a certain flair from the storyteller him/herself.

I feel like this has a meaning for all of us.When it comes to literature theirs so many ways to make it not a cold, dead thing. no matter how the literature is told or written these students always have these ideas of making it fun and interesting not only for them selves but also for the other students. by opportunities I think it means that theirs so many options in literature that will at least interest you. For example, I always love to communicate when it comes to literature, but i dislike vocabulary. So i have the opportunity to be able to use my positive ideas for communicating and help me understand other subjects.

From what I understand about what he is saying, I believe he is talking about books, newspapers, magazines, etc. I think that these things are not a vibrant mode of storytelling. I believe if I want to tell people about a story that I have, putting it in a video format, like a movie would be better. Now people can see exactly what I want them to see. In a book, you have to use your imagination to try to understand what the author wants you see.

Your claim that visual education can be more effective than reading, is an intersting one and can take the quote to the idea of education and literature moving towards more vibrant way of expressing emotions and thoughts with technology

I believe that this quote is for some students true while others are always thinking of new perspectives. It makes me that that what if one day the world dried up because all of the truth and ideals and been drained out of it. And all the stories had been shared and making new ones would not be an option. The world would heavily rely on the internet and all libraries would close down. All questions would be answered and there would be no mysteries left to discover. But then again, life moves on.
